Most of the resorts on Bali are located along the shoreline — but that doesn't mean they have to be. The Alila Ubud is set in the central foothills on a perch above the Ayung River. The resort's various rooms and villas sport a mix of contemporary design and traditional Balinese architecture, a vibe that's carried throughout the on-site art gallery, spa, and restaurant. All fruits and vegetables are locally-sourced, as are most of the room amenities, but we're pretty sure you'll forget all about that while enjoying the view from the infinity pool above the river valley.
