A hotel doesn't have to be old to be historic. The Dwarika's Hotel may have only been registered in the late '70s, but it's filled with traditional Newari wood carvings dating back centuries, many of which were personally saved from destruction and collected by the hotel's founder, Dwarika Das Shrestha. The hotel is still managed by his family today, offering 87 rooms and suites, three restaurants — including the renowned Krishnarpan — a bar, an on-site spa, a pool, a library, and a fitness center. Just don't forget your camera — if you're a shutterbug, you'll probably want to set aside a day just for photographing the hotel.
