For some reason, and we're not really sure why, but some of the best barbecue seems to come from places with rather silly names. Take the Hubba Hubba Smokehouse for example. Tucked away off the beaten path but not terribly far from I-26, this quaint restaurant serves up the best wood-fired, smoked meat in the area, including pulled pork, chicken or brisket sandwiches, platters, and sliders, half- and full-racks of ribs on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and a solid variety of tasty, made-from-scratch slides. A full array of sauces is also available — including mustard-, vinegar-, tomato-, and tomatillo-based — but the real surprise is the seasonal weekend special of smoked fish tacos with mild salsa and avocado slaw that are every bit as tasty as they sound.
