Montaña Mágica Lodge

Panguipulli, Chile

At first glance, you might think it was built by Elves, or Smurfs, or some other mythical creature. But in fact, the Montaña Mágica Lodge was actually built by local craftsmen from the surrounding communities and Puerto Fuy Neltume, or small wood-based mountain villages. Set in the Huilo-Huilo Biological Reserve, this uncommon hotel offers 13 rooms inside its mountain-shaped space, a wooden suspension bridge that offers direct access to the upper floors, a geyser-like feature that shoots water out of the top and down the side of the mountain, an on-site restaurant and bar, hot tubs built into ancient tree trunks with naturally-heated water, and an elevated mini golf course(!) that's built through the nearby forest.
