Thankfully, you're not expected to actually hunt for your food before your meal at Forage, but the food wouldn't be any fresher even if you did. Hidden behind its residential facade is not only one of the best restaurants in the state, but in the West as a whole, serving up an oft-changing single set menu featuring ingredients harvested from the wild as well as some from small farms and ranches. The result is food that's stunningly simple, yet offers complex, unexpected flavors — think soft boiled egg (the house's signature item) and duck with elderberry — and goes great with the recommended wine pairings. The clean, comfortable atmosphere and exemplary service are bonuses, but we'd expect no less from a place serving food this good.
