Adventuring up a hillside to see a spectacular sunrise is fun enough on its own, but when it's technically illegal? Even better. While you do have to get past a guard to experience them — or simply arrive when the guard's not there — the Haiku Stairs are well worth the effort. Located on the north side of Oahu, this steel staircase of 3,922 steps was originally built to provide access to a military radio station, but now provide access to some of the best views on the island. If you're thinking of giving it a go, be sure to check the Facebook group for more info, and remember: if you have a fear of heights, you might want to think twice — it's a long way down off the sides.
