It goes without saying, but if you're going to visit the Haro Wine Festival, you'd better like wine. Held every year on the 29th of June, this unique event includes parties, dancing, and La Batalla de Vino de Haro, better known as the Wine Fight. Early in the morning, the townsfolk — dressed in white shirts with red scarves — head up to the top of a nearby mountain, where they proceed to cover each other in wine using buckets, squirt guns, backpack-style sprayers, or anything else that can hold/dispense the grape-derived drink. Afterwards, they head back to the town square for a celebration that lasts the rest of the day. [via]
