Held nearly every year since the 1950s in a small town in the Spanish countryside, this raucous event sees a mixture of townsfolk and tourists engage in a full-on tomato-throwing battle for a solid hour, before fire trucks arrive to hose down both the participants and the town square. Random added bonus? The tomato's acids actually help disinfect and clean the streets, leaving the town in pristine condition for the evening's revelry.
