Pitchfork Music Festival

Chicago, Illinois

It's not exactly the anti-big name music festival — after all, it does play host to over 40 bands and 50,000 people over three days — but unlike most fests, the acts at the Pitchfork Music Festival are a bit more indie. This year's edition, scheduled for July 19, 20, and 21 in Union Park, is headlined by the unlikely trifecta of Björk, Belle & Sebastian, and R. Kelley, with MIA, Phosphorescent, Foxygen, and many more scheduled to appear — and that includes The Breeders, who are on their first tour in 20 years and will be playing their 1993 album Last Splash. Perhaps the best part? Tickets are actually affordable, leaving you with plenty of money to spend elsewhere around town.
